Visions

The objects presented in this work, assembled from camera components, protective eyewear, and other materials associated with seeing and imaging, are transformed into fictional and ultimately nonfunctional devices for altering vision and consuming media. Through this contextual shift, familiar technologies are reimagined as tools that suggest alternative modes of perception and engagement with media.

Displayed alongside these objects are found medical images of damaged eyes, which suggest a potentially altered relationship with media technologies. These images raise questions about the extent to which such technologies may influence perceptual processes and shape our understanding of reality. In doing so, the work invites reflection on the long term effects of increasingly mediated forms of experience.
