Under Observation

The work is based on medical images of damaged or unhealthy eyes, used here to examine the limits and instability of visual perception. Rather than functioning as clinical documentation, these images become material through which seeing itself is questioned and inverted.

Composed of hundreds of macroscopic images collected from medical archives of real patients, the work places the viewer within the observing gaze of these subjects. The distinction between spectator and spectacle becomes increasingly unstable. In this configuration, the act of looking is no longer unidirectional, instead, it becomes a condition in which the viewer is also positioned within the field of observation, implicated by the same images they attempt to observe.
